# Managed service

Use Norbix as a managed service — we run the servers, you build your app.

With the **managed service** Norbix runs the backend for you: servers, updates, scaling, backups and security. You only build your app.

## How Norbix models it

### Prerequisites

* A Norbix account. Signing up is free; there is nothing to install.
* No licence. Licences are only for [self-hosted](/codemash/get-started/self-hosted.md) and [enterprise](/codemash/get-started/enterprise.md) installations.

### Sign up

1. Open [cloud.norbix.ai/register](https://cloud.norbix.ai/register).
2. Fill in **Your name**, **Email address** and **Password**, then press **Sign up →**. Already have an account? Sign in at [cloud.norbix.ai/login](https://cloud.norbix.ai/login) (**Sign in →**).

### Create your first project

On the **Projects** screen press **Create a new PROJECT**. The numbers next to it show how many projects you have and how many your plan allows (**\[1/25]**). The [Quickstart](/codemash/get-started/managed-service/quickstart.md) walks through every step with pictures.

### Trial and plan limits

* If you have no subscription yet, the last step of the project wizard offers **Start Trial...** instead of **Save**. It opens a Stripe checkout for the subscription; after it you come back and the project is created.
* When you reach your plan's project limit, the wizard says **Project Limit Reached** (or **Subscription Expired**) and offers **Go to Portal** / **Get Project Credits**.
* A trial project keeps only the PROD environment ([Keys and environments](/codemash/get-started/keys-and-environments.md#environments)).
* Your subscription is managed in Cloud → **Account** — see [Account](/codemash/cloud/account.md).
