# Test an integration

Test an SMS integration — Norbix checks the provider account and sends a test SMS to a number you type.

**Where:** SMS → Integrations → an integration → **Test integration** · `/projects/<project>/sms/integrations/<integrationId>/edit`

## Before you start

* The integration is saved — see [Twilio](/codemash/cloud/sms/integrations/providers/twilio.md). A new integration must be saved before it can be tested.
* A phone you can read, in E.164 format. Through Twilio a passed test sends a real, paid SMS to it.
* The [Fake SMS (Test Me)](/codemash/cloud/sms/integrations/providers/fake-sms.md) has no test panel: it is born **TESTED** and **CONFIRMED**. The six coming-soon providers refuse the test (`CM-ERRORS-SMS-005`, *Sending SMS through \<Provider> is not supported yet.*).

## Steps

1. Open **SMS → Integrations** and press the integration, here `Twilio (Acme support line)`.
2. At the bottom of the page, type the number under **Test SMS Recipient** (*We'll send a test SMS to the phone number defined below.*), e.g. `+37060000001`. A wrong number shows *Please enter a valid phone number in E.164 format (e.g. +15551234567).*
3. Press **Test integration**. While it runs the button says **Testing...**.

## Result

The panel shows **Test passed** or **Test failed**, the time of the run, and one line per check. For Twilio the first check, **CheckCredentials**, signs in to Twilio with the Account SID and Auth Token (no SMS, no cost); only when it passes is the test SMS sent. The badge becomes **TESTED** or **TEST FAILED**.

When the test SMS arrives, press **I received it** in the **Confirm you received the message** box: the badge turns **CONFIRMED**. A new test or a save of the form clears the confirmation. Common Twilio errors: `20003` (wrong Account SID or Auth Token), `21211` (the number is not valid, or a trial account sends only to verified numbers).

## Change or remove it later

* Fix the fields, type the Auth Token again, press **Save**, and test again.

## Do it from code

Without `to`, the test only checks the account and sends nothing.
