# Delete a footer

Delete an email footer.

**Where:** Email → Footers → a footer → **Actions → Delete** · `/projects/<project>/emails/footers/<footerId>/edit`

## Before you start

* Permission `email:delete`.
* Check that no template still renders this footer by its id (a fixed `@Model.Cmf.RenderFooter("…")` call, or campaigns and triggers that pass its id in `Email.FooterId`). After the delete those sends fail.

## Steps

1. Open the footer, for example `Old footer`, and open **Actions**.

2. Press **Delete**. The dialog **Delete Confirmation** asks "Are you sure you want to delete?".

3. Press **Delete**.

## Result

You are back on **Email → Footers** and the footer is gone.

## Change or remove it later

Delete is permanent. Create the footer again ([Create or edit a footer](/codemash/cloud/emails/footers/editor.md)); it gets a new id.
