Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://codemash.gitbook.io/codemash/cloud/database/taxonomies/delete.md). # Delete a taxonomy Delete a taxonomy you no longer use. **Where:** Database → Taxonomies → row menu → **Edit taxonomy** → **Delete** · `/projects//db/taxonomies//edit` ## Before you start * You need `database:delete` on the taxonomy (`database:taxonomy:`, or `database:taxonomy:all`). * Check that no records, and no other taxonomy (as **Parent** or **Additional category**), still use it. ## Steps 1. Open **Database → Taxonomies**, open the row menu of the taxonomy and choose **Edit taxonomy**. 2. Press **Delete** at the top right. The dialog **Delete Confirmation** asks *Are you sure you want to delete?*

3. Press **Delete**. **Cancel** keeps the taxonomy. ## Result Cloud goes back to the taxonomies list and the taxonomy is gone.

## Change or remove it later A deleted taxonomy cannot be restored from Cloud.
