# Get Database Taxonomies

Gets database taxonomies.

A **taxonomy** is a hierarchical set of terms (categories, tags) you can attach to records.

This endpoint returns the database taxonomies available in your project.

{% openapi src="/files/0gOkqzp7kyziG9XPpCBy" path="/{version}/database/taxonomies" method="get" %}

{% endopenapi %}

## What each row carries

`viewId`, `taxonomyName`, `taxonomySlug`, `description`, `parentId` and, since October 2026, `parentName` (the parent taxonomy's name), `dependencies` (the ids of the additional parent taxonomies) and `dependencyRefs` — the additional parent taxonomies as `{ id, name }` pairs (`name` is empty when it cannot be resolved; it replaces the former `dependencyNames`). When a name cannot be resolved, use the id. Cloud's **Parent(s)** column shows `parentName` followed by the `dependencyRefs` names. The list reads no detail per row.

## In Cloud

## Use it from code

Every Norbix SDK exposes this endpoint as a method — see [Get Database Taxonomies](/codemash/sdks/database/taxonomies/get-database-taxonomies.md) in the SDK reference, with examples in every language.
