# Update Database Schema List Settings

Replaces a schema's records-list settings — columns, their order and the default sort.

Replaces the records-list display settings of one collection. This is a **full replace**, not a patch: read the current settings with [Get Database Schema List Settings](/codemash/api-reference/database/schemas/get-database-schema-list-settings.md), change what you need and send the complete object back. The settings are not part of the schema's draft / publish cycle — they apply at once.

`PUT /{version}/database/schemas/{Id}/list-settings`

| `id` (required)       | The schema id (`sch_…`).                                                                                                                                                     |
| `settings` (required) | `{ columns: [{ field }], defaultSort: { field, order } }`, e.g. `{ "columns": [{"field":"title"}, {"field":"amount"}], "defaultSort": { "field": "amount", "order": -1 } }`. |
